The general idea is to create a public domain repository for this type of information in the hopes that it may be of some use to others in the medical community.

There are various listings of medical words available but when I began the project I was unaware of any that were specifically public domain. In fact, I distinctly recall downloading one whose license was very suspect in that they said they may revoke my license to use their listing at any time.

Suffice it to say that I did not like their license and since I was studying medical terminology anyway, decided just to type in the words along with some basic abbreviations as well as medical word roots, prefixes and suffixes. Since I have done the work manually and with the intention that the data collected shall be public domain, anyone may use the collected data for any purposes whatsoever and know that they may do so.
