Having a background in a Youth in Residential Care (YIRC)
setting is something of a must to continue on reading. If
you don't know anything about YiRC settings & have experience
in a YiRC setting, then a lot of concepts in this document
may not make any sense to you.
Having a background in computers (and/or Linux/Apache/PHP/PostgreSQL,
etc...) is another must. In order to install and learn Freemed-YiRC
you must at least know how to turn the computer on and operate
it. If you wish to install Freemed-YiRC, but know next to
nothing about Linux/Apache/PHP/PostgreSQL, etc... but have
used Windows & the Internet, then I recommend you ask
your favorite computer person to do the install. After Freemed-YiRC
is installed & configured, you should be able to navigate
around it with little problems.
Anyone wanting to learn about Freemed-YiRC. Anyone
planning on installing, configuring, and/or using Freemed-YiRC.
Anyone who has once heard of Freemed-YiRC. Anyone in a YiRC
setting/agency/company... etc... :)
Anyone with a short attention span. Anyone who has never,
is not, or will never be associated with a YiRC setting.
Anyone never planning on using Freemed-YiRC. Anyone who
thinks 'Hope Floats' is a cool movie. Anyone who thinks
Linux sucks. Anyone who thinks the GPL is a 'bad thing'.
Anyone who is against free/open source software. Etc...
Freemed-YiRC is a piece of software that aims to aid companies/agencies
set in a Youth in Residential Care (YiRC) environment.
Current Information SSystems (IS) software on the market
currently costs far too much and/or does to little. Or,
there may be a good package, but one is not free to modify
it. New laws or regulations may get passed that require
you to change or upgrade your current system.
Freemed-YiRC aims to (hopefully) solve these problems and
provide a good solution to YiRC agencies with low budgets
and big requirements.
